Langholm Common Riding boasts an action packed afternoon held on the Castleholm. There is a vast array of sporting activities that are not to be missed.

Langholm hold one of eleven Borders Athletics Games that take place throughout the summer months. The athletics games are held within the centre of the horse racetrack with fantastic handicap foot racing on offer. Open categories include the 90m, 200m, 400m, 800m and 1600m with the rousing 90m Scratch Championship a highly contested event. The youth’s section is split into two separate categories with 9-12 years and 13-16 years competing in the races above mentioned. We also offer the High Jump as an open entry event for all which attracts not only athletes but also spectators to take part along with fun races for children of all ages. Our athletics events are always well supported with many coming from afar, often enticing professional athletes with excellent prize money an added incentive.

The traditional sport of Cumberland and Westmorland Wrestling is participated in during the afternoon which offers something different for onlookers. With various weight categories for adults and age categories for youths it is competitive, yet enjoyable to watch and partake in.

The sound of the bagpipes can be heard from the Highland Dancing Competition. A thrilling affair, there is different categories throughout the Youth age groups.
